Nature Math, Level 2

Rounding is the new idea and it is the one children find pointless until they need it.

So this level introduces it where it actually helps. Roughly how many seeds in the jar. About how far to the gate. Around how long the walk took. Estimation with real quantities gives rounding a reason to exist, and children who meet it that way stop treating it as a rule to remember.

Fourteen pages, same four section structure as every other level. Building numbers with objects continues from grade one and gets larger, which means bundles of ten become bundles of a hundred and children discover the pattern themselves.

The comparison work is where the language sits. More than, fewer than, and the harder ones, how many more and how many fewer, which are the same question asked from two directions and confuse everybody at seven.
