Rice Planting Picture Order

Four cards, one sequence. Seedling, planting, growing, harvest.

Four is the right number at this age. The kindergarten version of this sheet uses six and preschoolers lose the thread by the fifth.

Run it after the class has actually planted a tray, not before. Sequencing something you have done is a memory task. Sequencing something you have only been told about is a guessing task, and it shows in the results.

The page has the four cards, a strip to arrange them on, and a prompt for the child to tell the story back once ordered. That retelling is where you find out what they actually understood, and it is frequently not what you assumed.
