Jungle Fruit Finder Board
by Eric Gonzalez-Payne

The preschool board with words added and a simple score.
The reading is single words, fruit names, which most kindergarteners can decode with picture support. Adding score turns it competitive, which at five is manageable and adds energy without producing meltdowns, provided the game is short.
We run it in eight minute rounds for exactly that reason.
The page has the board, the word cards, the scoring, and the note about round length. It also has a cooperative variant for groups where competition is not landing well, which happens and is usually about one particular child rather than the class. Switch quietly rather than making an announcement about it.
