The explanation is the assessment. A five year old who sorted by size can say so. One who sorted by whether they thought it would grow has done something considerably more interesting and needs to be asked about it.

Ground collection only, which the sheet states plainly and which also happens to be the rule that lets you run this in a public garden without any difficulty.

The page has the collection bag design, the sorting mat, and prompts for the explanation stage. It also has a preservation note, because children want to keep what they found and most tropical fruit will not survive a week in a classroom. Seeds keep. Fruit does not. Say so at the start.
