Bug and Bloom Scavenger Hunt

Six items, ten minutes, working in twos.

The pairing is doing the teaching. Two five year olds searching together talk constantly and the talk is all descriptive language about living things, which is exactly what we want and cannot get by asking for it.

Six items is calibrated. Four is too easy and eight means nobody finishes, and an unfinished sheet at this age lands badly.

The page has the item pictures, the pair structure, and a variant list for gardens with different plants. The timer matters. Without one the hunt expands to fill the morning and the pace, which is what makes it fun, disappears. We use a sand timer the children can see.
