Barefoot Texture Path

Four textures, laid in a line, walked barefoot. Grass, smooth stone, dry leaves, wet sand is the version we settled on, but the page lists eight options because you use whatever your site has.

The learning is not really about texture. It is about a child slowing down enough to notice a difference underfoot, and having an adult nearby who names it. That is the entire beginning of scientific observation, and it happens at eighteen months.

One practical warning from our own mistakes. Do not include anything sharp, and check the path every single morning in the tropics, because ants relocate overnight.
