Living Campus Plant Interpretation Map
by Eric Gonzalez-Payne

Every significant plant, mapped, numbered and interpreted for a visitor who knows nothing.
Interpretation is not labelling. A label says what a thing is. Interpretation says why it is worth your attention, in about forty words, without condescension.
The page has the mapping frame, the interpretation writing guide, a word limit and a testing requirement with real visitors. The word limit does most of the teaching. Forty words forces a decision about what matters, and the drafts before and after that constraint are unrecognisable from each other.
