Seed Bank and Germination Trial

Store seed properly, then test whether the storage worked.

A germination trial is simple and rigorous. A hundred seeds, counted, on damp paper, checked daily, percentage calculated. Comparing storage methods on that percentage gives an answer that is not a matter of opinion.

The page has the storage methods, the trial protocol, recording sheets and a viability calculation. It also covers testing the same batch again after six months, which is the test that actually matters and which requires the class to hand the work on. That handover is worth planning rather than hoping for.
