Jungle Biodiversity Transect

Jungle Biodiversity Transect

Longer, more rigorous and more demanding than the grade five version. Identification to a consistent level, abundance estimated by a stated method, and habitat notes at every station.

The consistency requirement is the step up. Identifying some things to species and others to broad group makes a data set that cannot be compared with itself, and students discover that when they try to analyse it.

The page has the protocol, recording sheets, an identification standard and an analysis frame. It also has advice on what to do with things you cannot identify, which is to photograph, number and describe rather than guess.
