Jungle Edge Microclimate Investigation

Three variables, five points along a transect, measured at the same time of day, repeated.

The edge effect is real and measurable with cheap instruments. Temperature can drop several degrees over a few metres and humidity rises noticeably, and students who have measured it stop thinking of shade as simply darker.

The page has the transect layout, the measurement protocol, a repeat schedule and graphing frames. It also notes that a single set of readings proves little and that three repeats on different days is the minimum worth drawing conclusions from.
