Experiment Design Light and Growth
by Eric Gonzalez-Payne

The class designs it, not the sheet. That is the difference from every earlier version.
What we supply is a checklist a design must pass. One variable, controlled conditions, replicates, a measurable outcome, a stated prediction. Designs that fail the checklist get sent back, which is closer to how research works than being handed a method.
The page has the checklist, a design template, and space for the run. Light is a good first variable because shade cloth is cheap and the effect is large. Expect the first designs to change two things at once. Sending them back once is the lesson.
