Garden Budget Builder
by Eric Gonzalez-Payne

A fixed amount of money, a list of what is needed, and real prices found by asking.
The finding out is the work. Children ring or visit and get actual prices, which are never what they guessed and are usually higher.
The page has the budget frame, a quotes column requiring a source, a total, and a cuts section for when it does not fit. It never fits. Deciding what to cut is the most valuable half of the sheet and produces the first genuine encounter most children have with tradeoffs that are theirs to make.
