Jungle Edge Sound Map

Sit still. Mark every sound on a map by where it came from and how far away.

Sound mapping is quiet, demanding and unexpectedly popular. Children who dislike writing produce dense, careful maps here.

Ten minutes is the right length. The first three are restless and the last seven are the ones that count.

The page has the mapping circle, a symbol key for sound types, and a comparison prompt for a second session at a different time of day. Dawn against midday is dramatic in the tropics. If you can arrange an early session, the difference will be the thing the class remembers from the whole unit.
