Balinese Herb Picture Notes

Six herbs, each with a drawing, the local name, and what it is for.

Using local names alongside English is deliberate. Many children in the region know a plant in one language and not the other, and putting both on the page connects home knowledge to school knowledge, which is a connection that too rarely gets made.

We ask families for the names rather than looking them up, which produces variation and occasional disagreement. Both are fine and worth showing.

The page has the six frames, name lines in two languages, and a use line. It also has space for a seventh herb the child brings from home, which is the box we care most about.
