Medicinal Plant Interview Notes

Find someone who uses a plant. Ask them four questions. Write it down properly.

The interview is the skill. Eight year olds are poor interviewers at first, accepting the first answer and moving on, and the sheet includes one follow up prompt they must use, which is can you tell me more about that. That single prompt transforms the results.

Interviewees are usually family, which makes this homework that families enjoy.

The page has the four questions, the follow up prompt, and a write up frame. Collected over a class this produces a genuine record of local plant knowledge, and we have kept ours. Several plants in our garden are there because a child's grandmother mentioned them in one of these.
