Biodiversity Tally Walk

Walk a line. Count how many different things live along it. Do it again somewhere else.

This is a transect, which is a real method scaled down, and the comparison between two locations is where the learning is. The mown grass strip and the untidy corner give dramatically different numbers, and the reason is visible to an eight year old.

We do not tell them which will win. They usually guess wrong.
