Rainwater Detective

Where does the water go when it rains here. Follow it.

This is the grade two version of the preschool puddle work and the addition is destination. The water goes somewhere, and on most school sites that somewhere is a drain, a low corner that floods, or a bed that gets waterlogged.

Finding the flood corner is usually the highlight, because every child already knows about it and has never thought about why.

The page has a site sketch, arrows to draw, and a problem box. The problems children identify are usually real and occasionally get fixed by the school, which is the best possible outcome of a worksheet and has happened to us twice.
